"Interweb cold turkey... how does it feel?"....Cold, it feels cold.

The broadband is back and all is right with the my world again. I'm as excited as a puppy that has just been let into the house and doesn't quite know what to pee on first.....seriously.

Conan asked, "Interweb cold turkey... how does it feel?"

It felt cold Conan, really really cold and slow and lonely and so very 1999. It was, in a word, hideous. Some people take such situations in their stride and don't waste their energy by getting upset and angry about things that are out of their control.

I am not one of those people. I messed myself. I messed myself and then some.

"For god's sake are you still moping about your internet? Good grief there are people out there with real problems. Get over yourself! Why don't you read a book or go for a walk or meet a real actual in the flesh friend? Eh?", advised/scowled Little Miss Manuel.

I did not read a book or go for a walk or converse in a normal fashion with people with real names as opposed to those with aliases, perish the though! No, I sat and stewed and bemoaned my luck. I thought briefly for a moment about all those people with real problems that LMM had tried to shame me with- the kids with no food and the poor unfortunates labouring under the yoke of drug dependency and all Gordon's wee creatures who face terror and anguish on a daily basis. I thought about them all, I considered their plight and then went back to whinging about my lack of broadband.

Little Miss Manuel went home.

But normal service has been returned and life is good again. Little Miss Manuel will be back tomorrow, I hope....

Soon 50MB won't be enough for you. If you're lucky you'll end up at some weekly meeting where people will recall the fateful day they tried SDSL and liked it. ADSL just didn't seem the same again.

when the 'hurricane without gps' went through the middle of the united states last year, i was out of internet for a week. i took to hanging out in coffee shops - with other tweakers... getting little fixes here and there, paying $10/hour at starfucks....

It's good to see that all is right with the world.

Oh yes, real flesh friends.

I was recently scolded by one for forgetting his birthday yet remembering the birthday of an Infomaniac reader.

The shame.

Hmm, if it didn't result in more quality time with LMM I think you need a 12-step programme, or a time lock on your modem.
